You will have noticed: crying is a real effort. It makes us headache, the sobs make us tremble, the tears make the eyes hurt and the nose runs hard. Well, apparently it all happens because crying is a kind of workout , as explained by Dr. Jonathan Rottenberg, professor of psychology at the University of South Florida, at the Reader's Digest : "People who cry show high heartbeats and increase of sweating. In this sense, crying is a 'training' for the body because there is an answer 'fight or run away' in reaction to the emotion experienced ". Of course, going to the gym is definitely more fun ...https://wilypost.com/2019/02/19/crying/
The brain? He does not mind!
For how many reasons we cry - joy, pain, fright, anxiety, frustration ... - some parts of the brain are unable to distinguish them. Strange but true! Dr. Jordan Gaines Lewis told Psychology Today : there is a small region called hypothalamus in our head. It is she who reacts when we are happy, sad, stressed or anxious: she receives a signal from the amygdala - another part of the brain that allows us to experience emotions. The amygdala then continues to pass the message to our nervous system and it is at this point that we begin to cry . The hypothalamic however - despite being the first responsible - still does not know why we are doing it. Curious!
